Garrett Nelson, M.D.
A Double Board-Certified and Mohs-Trained Dermatologist at Dermatology Group of Arkansas
Dr. Garrett Nelson is board certified in both dermatology and micrographic dermatologic surgery. He has a special interest in skin cancer, dermatologic procedures, and Mohs surgery.
Dr. Nelson grew up in Mountain Home, Arkansas, where he was on the tennis team and played the saxophone in the marching, concert, and jazz bands. He then attended Missouri State University, where he received a degree in cellular and molecular biology with minors in chemistry and economics.
He was awarded his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. Dr. Nelson completed his internship at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Virginia and his dermatology residency at the University of South Florida in Tampa. While in residency, he trained at the USF outpatient clinics, Tampa General Hospital, Moffitt Cancer Center, and the VA. He has participated in clinical trials; has presented at local, state, and national meetings; and has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Nelson is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a fellow of the American Society for Mohs Surgery. He is also the Arkansas representative to the American Academy of Dermatology advisory board. He enjoys performing dermatologic surgery, including Mohs micrographic surgery, because it combines both surgery, pathology, and reconstruction.
Dr. Nelson lives in Little Rock with his wife and two children. In their free time, they enjoy gardening, hiking, watching wildlife, and exploring state and national parks.
