Latisse®
Get Luscious Lashes in the Little Rock Area
Some people are born with short, less-than-impressive eyelashes, and even those with naturally full-looking lashes can watch them thin with age. By offering Latisse®, the Little Rock area’s Dermatology Group of Arkansas gives everyone a chance to have the thick, dark, head-turning lashes they want.
Not a mascara or similar type of makeup, Latisse® is an FDA-approved prescription cosmetic that physically enhances the lashes themselves. The result is a naturally fuller look that lasts for as long as you continue to apply the product.

How Does Latisse® Work?
Many of the cosmetic treatments we offer are handled in the office, but Latisse® is different. Designed for at-home use, Latisse® must be applied directly to the upper eyelids at the base of the eyelashes once each day.
The liquid formula—bimatoprost ophthalmic solution 0.03%—triggers growth in the eyelashes. The full change takes 16 weeks of regular applications, so after about four months, you will see the intended improved length and thickness. Many people notice that their lashes are darkening and growing longer after only about eight weeks, but it is important to continue with routine applications at this point in order to achieve the complete desired result.
We advise people to simply incorporate applications into their daily routine. Nighttime is an especially ideal time, as you can brush your teeth, wash your face, and then apply the product before heading to bed. It’s important to note that doubling up on doses will not make your lashes grow twice as fast.
If Latisse® applications stop, the lashes will gradually return to their shorter and thinner state. Talk to us about long-term use for maintaining the beautifully lush eyelashes you achieve.
What Results Are Possible With Latisse®?
Clinical studies showed that eyelashes properly treated with Latisse® grew 18 percent darker, 25 percent longer, and more than 100 percent fuller. We encourage anyone using the prescription cosmetic to take close-up photos of their eyes and lashes before they begin, and then to take new photos at four, eight, 12, and 16 weeks into the treatment. This can show what a difference the routine applications are making!

Are There Side Effects to Watch For?
Strictly following the proper application techniques is the best way to enjoy the effects of Latisse® while minimizing unwanted reactions. Single-use applicators are sterile to avoid bacterial contamination and should never be re-used.
In rare instances, some people find that they experience eye redness or itching sensations while using Latisse®. Even less common is dryness, irritation, and darkening of the eyelid skin. If you experience any of these, discuss the side effects with our team. You can expect the effects to stop and resolve in the weeks and months following discontinuation of use.
What Else Can Improve the Look of the Eyes?
Thin eyelashes are not the only cosmetic issue many of our patients want to address. We can also smooth our crow’s feet with carefully placed BOTOX® injections, giving the entire eye area a more youthful look. If you want to pair in-office treatments with at-home care routines, talk to us about which options will best complement each other safely.
