What Are Cosmetic Treatments?
Why do people get cosmetic treatments? Whether the cosmetic treatments are non-surgical strategies designed to alter or enhance the face or body, the goal is the same: to improve the way you look. These procedures boost your confidence and self-esteem.
Although a cosmetic treatment can improve your confidence by changing your appearance, it’s important that you are aware of what a procedure involves and what kind of results you can expect. During your consultation, our team will talk to you about your cosmetic concerns and goals. We will work with you to help you decide which cosmetic treatments are best for you and put together a plan to help you achieve your aesthetic goals.
Which Cosmetic Treatments Are Available at Dermatology Group of Arkansas?
Sometimes patients considering cosmetic treatments will ask, “What is the best cosmetic treatment for anti-aging?” or “What is the most effective wrinkle treatment?”
There is no one type of treatment that’s best for everyone. The right cosmetic treatment for you depends on a range of factors, including your goals. The Dermatology Group of Arkansas provides injectable wrinkle relaxers and dermal fillers, laser and light devices, skin tightening options, and other skin rejuvenating cosmetic treatments.
Wrinkle Relaxers
BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® are injectable cosmetic treatments known as wrinkle relaxers or neuromodulators that allow targeted muscles to stay at rest instead of contracting when certain facial expressions are made. This prevents them from pulling the skin into noticeable wrinkles, including horizontal forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet.
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are cosmetic treatments that add temporary volume to reduce wrinkles or enhance the shape and contours of the face. There are two main types of dermal fillers or facial fillers available: hyaluronic acid fillers and collagen-stimulating injections, also known as biostimulatory fillers.
Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Hyaluronic acid fillers are gels of varying consistencies that contain hyaluronic acid as their main ingredient and add plumpness or volume beneath the skin.
The Juvederm® family is made up of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers, each one designed to provide a unique benefit, from adding volume to an aging mid-face to reducing the severity of nasolabial folds to enhancing the lips so that they appear fuller. Restylane® is another collection of hyaluronic acid fillers that provide similar benefits.
Biostimulatory Injectables
Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, biostimulatory injectables actively promote the skin’s natural collagen production to gradually improve its quality. Sculptra® is a filler that contains poly-L-lactic acid—a collagen stimulator—as its active ingredient and works by prompting the body to produce more collagen.
Lasers and Lights
Laser and light therapies involve the use of cosmetic treatments for a variety of purposes, such as repairing skin, regenerating beneficial elements, reducing unwanted hair, and more.
Intense Pulsed Light/BBL
By using intense pulses of broadband light energy, IPL and BBL cosmetic treatments are ideal for addressing redness, sun spots, and other pigmentation irregularities, as well as giving the skin a more youthful look overall.
Laser Skin Rejuvenation
Moxi™ laser skin rejuvenation corrects irregularities in skin tone, texture, and pigmentation by encouraging production of collagen and more beneath the surface. This can also help to delay future signs of aging from developing.
Laser Skin Resurfacing
ProFractional Therapy and Sciton Halo® are laser skin resurfacing devices that create channels in the skin to trigger a natural healing response that improves the look and feel of the surface.
Sciton Contour Tunable Resurfacing Laser (TRL) is a versatile laser skin resurfacing platform that allows for highly personalized cosmetic treatments. Sessions can be customized so they are as gentle or intense as necessary to achieve each patient’s goals.
Laser Hair Removal
Sciton Bare HR™ is an advanced laser hair removal system available at the Dermatology Group of Arkansas. The treatment is highly effective for hair removal and provides lasting results with fewer treatment sessions required to maintain smooth skin.
Laser Acne Treatment
Powerful light can kill the bacteria that cause pimples and other outbreaks, making laser acne treatment a popular choice for certain patients. Lasers can also be used to reduce the appearance of acne scars.
Other Laser Procedures
Using light from a range of laser procedures, we can treat visible veins, scars, lesions, the redness of rosacea, and more.
SkinTyte™
SkinTyte™ uses infrared light to stimulate collagen production. The boost in structural protein addresses mild laxity for better-defined contours.

Skin Tightening and Fat Reduction
Aging and other changes can result in stretched skin. You can restore a firmer appearance with skin tightening cosmetic treatments. There are also procedures available to reduce stubborn fat below the chin.
SkinTyte™
By prompting collagen production, SkinTyte™ boosts volume and improves the structure of the skin to make it tighter instead of loose.
Kybella®
Kybella® is an injectable cosmetic treatment that targets the fat cells in a double chin. Reducing this submental fullness creates a more distinct jawline and profile.
Skin Rejuvenation
Skin rejuvenation and resurfacing involves cosmetic treatments to treat many different aspects of skin damage, whether from ultraviolet radiation, time, or other stressors.
Chemical Peels
Customizable chemical peels are ideal for removing the surface of the skin where fine lines, wrinkles, spots, and other signs of aging and sun damage appear.
Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is a cosmetic treatment that involves removing peach fuzz and dead skin cells with a specialized blade. The cosmetic treatment is similar to shaving, but with a different application and focus.
Microneedling
The Dermatology Group of Arkansas uses SkinPen® for microneedling. As the only FDA-approved device for this type of cosmetic treatment, it creates tiny channels in the skin to prompt collagen production and other healing benefits.
Platelet-Rich Plasma
Also known as PRP, platelet-rich plasma is a cosmetic treatment that uses high concentrations of healing fragments of cells to improve the skin and encourage new hair growth in failing follicles.
Latisse®
Latisse® is a medication that causes eyelashes to grow thicker and longer. Prescriptions for this cosmetic treatment to be applied at home are available through the Dermatology Group of Arkansas team.
